Austin S. Rose, MD, MBA, FARS

Dr. Rose received his MD with Honors and completed residency training at UNC followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2003.  He served on faculty for over 20 years at the UNC Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, ultimately as a Professor and the Vice Chair of Finance.  While at UNC, Dr. Rose was a Course Director of the annual Newton D. Fischer Society Scientific Meeting as well as the Founder (in 2008) and first Director of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship Program.  He is proud of his service at UNC where he remains an Emeritus Professor.  


For over 20 years now, Dr. Rose has cared for children and adults in the Triangle and beyond with both common and complex ENT issues.  In addition to Pediatric Otolaryngology, Dr. Rose sub-specializes in Rhinology, Allergy & Sinus Surgery including all sinus and nasal issues.

Dr. Rose is board-certified and a Fellow of both the Triological Society and the American Rhinologic Society (ARS).  He is also an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) and American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO)


Research Interests

Dr. Rose's research has focused on recurrent ear infections, sinus and nasal issues, and technology in ENT including 3D Printing and Augmented Reality (AR).  His work has been recognized with a Mimics Innovation Award from Materialise (Leuven, Belgium) and an Innovation Pilot Award from the UNC Center for Health Innovation.
